Greg Hoy
President—Happy Cog East
Greg is an industry veteran with nearly two decades of interactive design and leadership experience. His career spans the legal, publishing, retail, insurance, and consulting services industries. Greg made significant impacts at such companies as Simon & Schuster, Eddie Bauer, and Safeco, where he was responsible for designing the user experience for one of the first self-service, web-based insurance applications in the United States.
In 2000, Greg served as the User Experience Director for FullTilt Solutions, a custom software design and development firm. In 2005, while working under the umbrella of international design consultancy Electronic Ink, Greg launched and led Pixelworthy, a standards-based web design and development organization. Pixelworthy quickly developed a strong presence in the web design field, drawing high profile clients and attracting top-notch web talent.
Along the way, Greg’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to develop an online gift retailing operation, which he sold to a well-known retailer. He also ran his own user experience consultancy.
In 2006, Greg and Happy Cog Founder Jeffrey Zeldman worked together to extend Happy Cog’s footprint and pedigree by launching Happy Cog’s Philadelphia presence. The outpost has grown from a few contractors to 10 full time, world-class professionals producing exemplary results for Fortune 100 companies and an impressive roster of non-profit organizations, software companies, and higher educational institutions.
Greg has fostered, managed, and maintained client relationships with hundreds of organizations, including Ameriprise Financial, AstraZeneca, Books-A-Million, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Comcast, Microsoft, The New York Stock Exchange, Paramount Pictures, SEI Investments, Sherwin-Williams, Sungard, Thomson Reuters, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Wyeth, and many more.
