Russ Unger

User Experience Director

Russ Unger is a seasoned user experience designer who got his start back when Mosaic was the only browser that wasn’t Lynx. That’s like 100 years ago in internet years, but just a little shy of 20 years for the rest of us. Prior to joining Happy Cog, Russ worked with such clients as Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Marsh, Kmart, Celebrity Cruise Lines, Volkswagen Credit, and United Airlines. He has also helped create large scale Intranet and Extranet applications for such companies as Volkswagen Credit, Audi Financial Services, Information Resources, Inc. and Marsh. His past experience also includes designing biometric devices and a variety of mobile features and applications.

He sits on the board of directors for the Information Architecture Institute as the current president and has been a content curator for the IDEA Conference, the Information Architecture Summit, and SXSW Interactive.

Russ co-authored A Project Guide to UX Design, a popular book with UX professionals, and is currently co-authoring a book on research methods that is due out in 2011. In addition, Russ has been an author and editor for Boxes and Arrows, a well-known user experience design magazine. When he’s not busy writing, you may find him presenting at a conference on design and user experience topics.
