A Book Apart

A Book Apart

Our newest business publishes narrowly focused books of exceptional quality. We mainly produce brief books of 60 to 100 pages—the perfect size in terms of subject depth and coverage for our audience of professional web designers and developers.

Why brief books?

Many topics relevant to our audience are too narrow to fill a whole book, but too broad or complex for a short article. Most working designer-developers need short, crisp precision tools that focus on a problem, solve it, and get out of the way. And that is what A Book Apart produces.

Our books include highly detailed and meticulously edited examinations of single topics: topics like Accessible Ajax, not Ajax for Dummies; How to Sell Quality to Web Clients, not Getting to Yes.

HTML5 For Web Designers

Announcing HTML5 For Web Designers

We are pleased to announce our first A Book Apart title, on sale May 4, 2010. Jeremy Keith’s HTML5 For Web Designers obliterates the confusion surrounding the web’s new markup language and cuts straight to what matters to accessible, standards-based web designers, developers, and content specialists.

HTML5 For Web Designers is for people who create web content, who mark up web pages for sense and semantics, and who design accessible interfaces and experiences. Its goal—one it shares with every title in the forthcoming A Book Apart catalog—is to shed clear light on a tricky subject, and do it fast, so you can get back to work.

Watch for additional titles soon.
